39. Atrio (b), parete N, tratto O: nella documentazione degli anni " ’30 erano ancora visibili i particolari della ricca decorazione di IV stile. Nello zoccolo si distingue il plinto giallo sul quale si distaccano i pannelli e gli avancorpi di sostegno alle parti prominenti degli scorci della zona mediana. Nella specchiatura del pannello centrale, a fondo giallo, è raffigurato a monocromo il gruppo di una Nereide e di un toro marino che nuotano verso destra; in quelli laterali, a fondo rosso, nei quali erano amorini, si vedono solo in parte delle ghirlande e dei bordi di tappeto. Sulle basi degli avancorpi ci sono corolle e una patera. Lo scorcio architettonico ha la complessità di una scenografia teatrale con più piani di fuga prospettica che conferivano imponenza alla decorazione già ricca di particolari accessori, molti dei quali riferibili alle maestranze attive nella Casa dei Vettii e nel Tempio di Iside. Sugli scalini di un hospitale avanza un giovane in tunica bianca e toga rossa che tiene appoggiato alla spalla destra un rotulo. L'ala laterale del protiro è sostenuta da una colonna che termina su di un alto parapetto davanti al quale c'era la statua di un cavaliere del quale è perduta la testa, mentre era ben conservato il cavallo volto verso destra. Da una loggia del piano superiore, decorato con statue, tra le quali si riconosce quella di un centauro accosciato, si sporge una figura femminile intenta ad appendere ghirlande. DAIR 30 145

39. Atrium (b), N wall, W section: the details of the rich fourth style decoration were still visible in the documentation from the 1930s. In the plinth we can distinguish the yellow plinth on which the panels and the avant-corps supporting the parts stand out. prominent glimpses of the median zone. In the mirroring of the central panel, with a yellow background, the group of a Nereid and a marine bull swimming to the right is depicted in monochrome; in the lateral ones, with a red background, in which they were cupids, they only partially see the garlands and the edges of the carpet. On the bases of the avant-corps there are corollas and a patera. The architectural glimpse has the complexity of a theatrical setting with several perspective vanishing planes which gave grandeur to the decoration already rich in particular accessories, many of which refer to the workers active in the House of the Vettii and in the Temple of Isis.On the steps of a hospitale advances a young man in a white tunic and red toga who and holds a patella leaning on his right shoulder. The lateral wing of the prothyrum is supported by a column which ends on a high parapet in front of which there was the statue of a knight whose head has been lost, while the horse facing right was well preserved. From a loggia on the upper floor, decorated with statues, including that of a squatting centaur, leans out a female figure intent on hanging garlands. DAIR 30 145
