57. VII 7, 32 Tempio di Apollo, parete con decorazione di IV stile contenente al centro il quadro con Dioniso e Sileno (H, 395). Tempera e inchiostro su cartone; 672 x 504. In basso a sinistra: Frane. Morelli dis. e dip.; in basso al centro: Palmi sei Napoletani. Soprintendenza Archeologica di Napoli ADS 1199. Delle tre riproduzioni di pareti elei tempio che, secondo PAH I 3, pp. 211-212, il Morelli doveva eseguire, questa è l’unica di cui si conservi nell’Archivio della Soprintendenza la redazione definitiva firmata: ‘Altra parete lunga pai. 14, alta pai. 12, dello stanzino posto dietro il detto tempio, nel quale stanzino trovasi il bel quadretto di Bacco col vecchio Sileno in atto di suonare la lira, e tuttociò in mezzo a bellissime riquadrature ed arabeschi, e tondi forniti di teste di Fauni; oltre a diverse altre interessanti dipinture sparse qua e là nel luogo medesimo...’ (PAPI, ibid.). Of the three reproductions of walls of the temple which, according to PAH I 3, pp. 211-212, Morelli had to execute, this is the only one of which the definitive version signed: 'Altra muro lunga pai. 14, high pai. 12, of the closet placed behind the said temple, in which closet is the beautiful picture of Bacchus with the old man Silenus in the act of playing the lyre, and all this in the midst of beautiful squares and arabesques, and roundels equipped with the heads of fauns; as well as several other interesting paintings scattered here and there in the same place...'
